Our program provides training in insect systematics and biological diversity, insect ecology and integrated pest control, insect biochemistry and molecular biology. It integrates the knowledge of life science, agronomy, horticulture and plant protection with the foundation of modern biological theory and technology. Students may carry out research under the direction of our faculty members in the fields of systematics of major insect groups, diversity of rare and endangered insects, regularity of outbreak, disaster mechanism and integrated control of major agricultural pests, study and utilization of insect resources. Our program is closely associated with the disciplines of biology, agronomy, forestry, medicine and environmental protection.

●  A Master’s degree with a research thesis is required.

●  Students with background in entomology and related disciplines are encouraged to apply for our program.

●  English Proficiency Requirements: A TOEFL score of 90 (internet based test) or above is required. Alternatively, an official IELTS score of 6.0 or CET-6 will satisfy the English proficiency requirements for admission to the program. Note that an applicant who has or will have completed a Master or Bachelor degree from a school for which the primary language of instruction is English, or who is from a country where English is a primary language is not required to submit a TOEFL, or IELTS score.

When complete the program（3-4 years）, the students will obtain advanced knowledge, methods and progresses of entomology. They will have an overall and systematic understanding of their research directions and fields, will be familiar with related literature and know the research trends in entomology. They will possess scientific attitude of preciseness and independent thinking. Our program will provide the graduates the opportunity to acquire positions in teaching, research, and administration related to entomology.

A student must take at least 18 credits, including 11 credits take from courses and 7 credits from supervised research and seminar etc. All students must complete their thesis and fulfill the requirements for graduation. The students who pass the thesis review and defense will be awarded doctoral degrees.

JW202 Form: usually come out within one month after students get admitted.

Visa Application:

> For those who applied for long term study (more than 6 months), students can apply for X visa with the admission letter and JW202 form.

> For those who applied for short term study (less than 6 months), students are suggested to apply for L visa with the admission letter.
